How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign is an innovative method of orthodontic treatment that doesn’t use brackets, archwires or small elastic bands. Instead, it uses clear, plastic aligners that look a bit like thin sports mouth guards. Every ten days you’ll need to change your aligners, which are custom made to your teeth, so they continue to move towards the desired position. This is easy to do as the aligners are removable. In fact, you can take them out for eating, brushing and flossing or for important occasions such as business meetings, family weddings or a first date!

Types of Invisalign

Although the Invisalign process remains the same, there are different versions of this orthodontic treatment which makes it an effective option for almost every orthodontic case:

Invisalign full

The original Invisalign treatment method usually takes between 12 and 18 months. This is a much shorter treatment time than traditional metal braces, which can take up to 24 months to achieve final results.

Invisalign Teen

Teenage years are when we’re at our most self-conscious, but they’re also the years when orthodontic treatment is most needed. Invisalign Teen is an ideal solution as the clear plastic aligners are virtually invisible and can be removed when playing sports or musical instruments. The Invisalign Teen aligners also come with a blue dot wear indicator to help teenagers keep track of the length of time they’re wearing them – ideally between 20 and 22 hours a day.

Invisalign Lite

This version of Invisalign is great for adult patients who want a quick result from orthodontic treatment. Invisalign Lite is able to straighten your front six teeth within six months.

Invisalign i7

Not all orthodontic cases require major work; some may just require the minor correction of a crooked front tooth. Invisalign i7 can get great results in these situations within three months.
