On Friday 5th December Walsall Stands Together - Stand Up To Racism are holding an event at The Crossing at st Pauls in Darwall Street, Walsall between 6pm - 9pm.
"If you haven’t registered for _Walsall Stands Together. Stand Up to Racism Forum_ yet, please make sure you do at https://bit.ly/walsallst. It will be an action-packed evening" said Mark Webster from Walsall Stands Together.
"We’ve got Lorraine Mponela who’ll be reading extracts of her books. And then we’ve got Gerald Kells who will be reading one or two poems. We’re going to do a Love Music Hate Racism event in Walsall and we want to integrate poetry into that like we did last time when we did it at the Community Gardens" said Mark.
There will be food and refreshments, information stalls, protest art workshop, self-defence workshop and more.
"At 7 pm we will start our Discussion Tables" said Mark "with space to explore, share, learn and plan with topics that will include countering hate, everyday actions and community responses, Asylum Seekers and Refugees, Women Against the Far Right, end violence against women & girls, Movement for Palestine and the Fight for Justice."
There will also be Collective Action: From Workplaces to Communities, Role of Social Media, Why Protest?, Arts, Music, Poetry Against Racism.
"We will finish the night with some amazing live poetry and music" said Mark Webster. "It has never been more important to get together and say no to hate, division and violence so please join us if you can.
Don't worry if you are not able to attend the whole of the event, do come anyway even if just for a part of it, you're more than welcome. And if you know anybody that might be interested in attending, please spread the word. It will be a good night."
