After a busy selection day with record number of submissions, the Walsall Society of Artists artwork is hung ready for the 73rd Annual Exhibition at the New Art gallery Walsall, in the Community Gallery. We are ready to celebrate the talented artists work at the Private View on 14th December 2023 6pm - 8pm. This years main sponsors are Fraser Wood Estate Agents, Steve Johnson and Wheat Garden Centre, Phil Wheat will both be giving prizes present prizes for outstanding work.

Each year we ask the public to vote for their favourite painting, last year the talented artist Rob Fellows, won the “Peoples Choice Award” with his self portrait “In Your Face”  (pictured) and Rob’s painting will appear on the front page of this years catalogue for the exhibition. We encourage everyone to visit the exhibition and vote for your favourite artwork.

Every Saturday 10am - 4pm in the new year throughout the exhibition, exhibiting artists will be demonstrating their talents. We have wildlife artists, botanical artists, watercolour artists, mixed media artists, ceramic artists, landscape and figurative artists. This is a great opportunity for the public to talk to the artists, watch, and pick up new techniques.

Building upon our successful collaboration with Walsall poets  we will be hosting
two Poetry events in conjunction with the “Wolverhampton Literature Festival”.
During these afternoons, the poets will present a poem, alongside the artwork which inspired them and the artist will also give an outline of their inspiration for their artwork. Sunday 28th January 2024, 1.00-3.00pm - Sunday 4th February 2024, 1.00-3.00pm.

New Art Gallery Walsall Community Day 17th February 2024
Many local artists will be demonstrating throughout the Gallery. Our own Jude Hanly formerly a set designer, will hold a ‘drop-in’ mixed media workshop using words, with paint, print, drawing and sound, to create an installation on the theme of “Water and Climate”, as part of The New Art Gallery Walsall Community Day.

Walsall Society of Artists have a long artistic history within Walsall going back to 1949 when it was founded by Alderman TP Riley, JP. Walsall Society of Artists is non-profit making and is organised for charitable purposes run by a volunteer committee from the membership. We aim to inspire, inform and support the pursuit of creating art, by promoting the sharing and communication of ideas, techniques and experiences among those interested in art.
