Walsall's slump continued with a 0-2 home defeat to MK Dons to send the team so close to the drop zone. To complete a bad day for The Saddlers, veteran goalkeeper Jimmy Walker was sent off and manager Dean Smith was also shown the red card in the tunnel for comments made to the referee.
Smith decided not to name David Grof amongst the substitutes and must have regretted this when on 33 minutes his keeper was sent off for handling outside the area. Fullback Lee Beevers went between the posts and his first job was to pick the ball out of the net from the resultant free kick taken by Dean Lewington.
On 45 minutes former Saddler Jabo Ibhere slotted home from inside the box with more than a hint of offside about it. Beevers kept a clean sheet for the second half as Walsall tried their hardest to get back into the game. Jamie Patterson twice went close and Claude Gnakpa went even closer- his shot came back off both posts. It was that kind of day.
