Walsall played out a 1-1 draw at Gigg Lane against a Bury side who were second bottom in League One with just one win all season going into this game. Saddlers took the lead in the seventh minute through Will Grigg. Following a mix up by the home keeper Trevor Carson who cleared a back pass straight to the Walsall striker who threw off a challenge from a defender to poke home. It was a welcome start from Walsall and it was hoped that they would build upon this lead.

However just four minutes later Bury were back in the game with a smartly taken goal from Dominic Polen who beat a couple of Walsall defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot past the recalled Walsall keeper David Grof. He make three or four smart saves to keep his team in the game. Andy Butler produced a terrific clearance of the line with a diving header whilst Bury hit a post in the second half and had several good wasted chances. So Saddlers had to settle for a point in a performance and game best forgotten.
