Walsall somehow managed to do it again V. Crewe... for the third time this season on home soil they threw a 2-0 lead away and threw two points away. Manager Dean Smith must privately be livid his men keep on doing it although publically he says there is no mental block. They simply don't always stay switched on for the duration of the whole game. Yet the first half looked so promising. Flo Cuvelier set up youngster Jamie Patterson with a neat through ball who finished with a nice shot. Then Flo himself got on the scoresheet so by 25 minutes into the game Walsall were coasting at 2-0 with the visitors offering very little in reply. It was by now a question of how many.

The second half was a different story however and when Crown pulled one back Crewe raised their game. They had come out so determined to get back in the game and looked a different side. The writing was on the wall when they got back in the game and despite making substitutions there was to be no addition to the scoring by the Saddlers. It took Crewe untill the third minute of time added on to draw level, through Aneke, which meant the supporters had to go home disappointed yet again.
