Walsall karting driver Ethan Guest has had his best ever day of racing in the Junior Rotax class. It came at Round 9 of the Shenington Kart Racing Club Championship in Oxfordshire on 17–18 October.

It was Ethan’s first club race weekend since officially joining Dave Edwards Racing (DER), one of the UK’s leading karting teams. He races #41 on a Tony Kart OTK chassis with Aurum Engines, with Scott Gollings as his mechanic and driver coach.

Ethan set the pace in Sunday morning warm up, finishing P1 with a lap of 42.99, around seven tenths quicker than any other Junior Rotax driver.

In Heat 1 he started seventh and made a bold move round the outside of three drivers, then took the lead and held it for several laps before finishing second. It was his best ever Junior Rotax heat result.

In Heat 2 he started from 17th and drove a patient, controlled race to finish fifth, despite an early red flag.

Those results put him third on the grid for the A Final, his highest ever starting position. He led the early laps, dropped as far back as eighth, then fought back to finish fourth, his best ever A Final result in the class.

Ethan said:

“It was my best day of racing in Junior Rotax, and by far my most consistent. I was quick lap to lap and session to session. Finishing P1 in warm up was a first for me, and leading the heat and the final is where I want to be. It’s a real flag in the ground for my season.

A huge thank you to Dave Edwards for the opportunity to join the team, and to Scott Gollings for looking after my kart and for all his knowledge and race strategy. Thank you also to all my partners, many of them local businesses. I couldn’t do any of this without them.”

Ethan’s finals day was live streamed by Alpha Live Productions, and his race videos are available on his YouTube channel, @ethanguestracing.

His next race is Round 7 of the Trent Valley Kart Club (TVKC) Championship at PF International, 31 October – 1 November. He is now building towards the 2027 season and is welcoming local businesses interested in supporting his racing.
