Walsall produced a poor performance against non-league Lincoln City in the First Round of the FA Cup at Sincil Bank on Saturday, conceding a goal just before half time but plugged away and earned a replay back at Bescot thanks to a headed goal from George Bowerman in the 88th minute. It was heartbreaking for Lincoln, two divisions and fifty odd places below The Saddlers but at least the team lived to fight another day.

Walsall knew they were going to be up against it with midfield ace Flo Cuvelier out injured with a hamstring injury and it showed out there on the pitch. Walsall never got going really and it was the home side who created more chances and were really up for it. They had already shaved the bar and had a couple of efforts whistle past David Grof when in time added on in the first period made their breakthrough. Jamie Taylor chipped Grof from 12 yards to send the home fans wild.

Walsall made their substitutions in the second half and it was one of them, Richard Taundry, who made that goal for Bowerman. His long throw was headed on and there was the young striker to head home. So the winners of this replay now face either Mansfield Town or Slough Town at home in Round Two.
