The programme, delivered by the Healthy Spaces team, has delivered more than £26,500 in savings for the community, thanks to the time and resources donated by businesses and volunteers. 

Across the year, 300 volunteers gave up more than 900 volunteer hours. These hours were used to deliver of a range of projects benefitting communities in Walsall. 

Over the past year, some notable CSR projects have included: 

• Refurbishing football changing rooms: Volunteers from SUEZ redecorated both the interior and exterior of the facilities at Clayhanger Park.
• Bringing a polytunnel back into community use: A dilapidated polytunnel at Grenfell Allotments was repaired and restored by Barhale and sister company BCS Group.
• Installing fishing pegs: Volunteers from Brownhills Asphalt Tarmac Ltd and SUEZ created accessible pegs for anglers at Barns Lane Pool.
• Transforming green spaces with HomeServe: Working with Walsall Council, HomeServe volunteers carried out improvements to local parks and green spaces, helping to make them more attractive, safe and usable for residents.
• Dredging works to tackle allotment flooding: Heavy silt and debris were removed from Grenfell Allotments waterway by Brownhills Asphalt Tarmac Ltd, helping to prevent repeated flooding and protecting valuable green space used by residents.
• 415 rubbish bags collected by volunteers

The CSR programme connects local businesses with opportunities to support community projects, from environmental improvements to facility refurbishments, helping to deliver Walsall Council’s We Are Walsall 2040 vision for a healthier, safer and greener borough.
