Walsall Council Nominations Now Open For May Election

Irene Henery (pictured  on the right with Parpui Gangte Shaw) of REFORM UK is the first candidate to submit her nomination papers to stand as a candidate in the 7th of May 2026 Walsall Council elections. The election period has begun for the all-out Council elections where all 60 seats in Walsall Council are up for election.

 

 


Irene, who is a Chartered Management Accountant and probate lawyer, had a 10 am appointment today at Walsall Council where she handed in her nomination papers and council staff informed her that she was the very first to do so. Irene was CEO of the multi-award winning law firm, Ian Henery Solicitors Limited, for 22 years and it had 4 offices in Willenhall and Birmingham. She will be standing in Rushall-Shelfield ward.

 

 

Each of Walsall’s 20 wards has three councillors, meaning voters can vote for up to three candidates. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 7th May 2026.
The deadline for registering to vote in person in the Walsall council elections is 11:59pm on 20th April 2026.

 

 


The deadline for registering for voting by proxy is 5pm, Tuesday 28 April 2026.
The deadline for candidates to hand in their nomination papers is 4pm, Thursday 9 April 2026.
