As part of the Walsall for 2012 celebrations, we're planning to hold an event in Walsall Arboretum on Sunday 9 September. This will be us joining in with the National Bandstand Marathon initiative. http://bandstandmarathon.org.uk/index.asp?ID=156
After being incredibly busy with organising the Olympic Torch coming to the borough on 30 June, we're only just starting to plan the Bandstand Marathon, but it already looks like being a fabulous day. Well. That's if it ever stops raining!
The very rough plan at the moment goes like this....
Performances, by local groups, dance acts and so on in the refurbished bandstand from noon till 8.
Stalls and space for families to picnic on the central green all day.
Fun sporty activity in the extension, probably from noon till 4.
Lantern lit procession from the bandstand to the extension at the end of the day, to be finished off with a fireworks display. This is aspirational at the time of writing.
We would like this to be a "by Walsall, for Walsall" event, so it would be great to get some of the Best of Walsall businesses involved. Even if your business isn't suitable, Alex and Sarah would like a Best of Walsall stall to showcase the Best of Walsall businesses?
