Walsall Author, Cheryl Ann Boot, took to the stage once more on Saturday 2nd August 2025 with her appearance at Sounds in the Grounds annual festival in Reddich. Proudly appearing as part of the ‘Poetry with Saida and Friends' Cheryl read Inspirational based poetry on the Latin motto ‘Per Ardua ad Astra’, meaning ‘Through adversity to the stars’.

Cheryl captivated her audience as she took them through some examples of adversity and through an emotional and heart-warming performance, she was able to help the audience see that adversity can be overcome and that the future can once again, be bright and filled with positivity.

Reach for the stars

‘Shall I give it one more chance?

To make my life complete

Shall I open my heart once more?

This time without defeat.

Because what would life be without adventure?

A lonely and solace place

What would life be without the comfort?

Without being nestled into your arms of embrace.

I’m giving our world the chance to amend

And let go of all things wrong

To embrace a world that should have been

Like when we’re dancing to our song.

Because now I can’t imagine a world without adventure

Not just for the good times, happy days and meaningless chatter

But for the ‘real life’ adventures and the ones that really matter.

For all the adversity, written in the past

Here is our new chapter, one that will last

So let’s reach for the stars, together, me and you

This is our story you’re reading, but know that you can do it too.’
