Trusts celebrate national digital healthcare recognition

The Royal Wolverhampton (RWT) and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trusts have been shortlisted for six awards at the 2026 HSJ (Health Service Journal) Digital Awards, highlighting the impact of digital solutions across a range of services.

The shortlisted projects and individuals include:

  • RWT’s digital clinical safety system model, shortlisted for the Digital Clinical Safety award.
  • Walsall Healthcare’s “Time to Care” Programme – Ambient Voice Technology (AVT), shortlisted in two categories: Improving Urgent and Emergency Care through Digital and Driving Change through AI and Automation.
  • RWT’s Cardiac Rehabilitation programme, shortlisted for the Digital Equality, Diversity and Inclusion award.
  • RWT’s Digital Perioperative Transformation, shortlisted for Enhancing Workforce Engagement and Productivity through Digital.
  • Professor Baldev Singh, Consultant Physician and Clinical Director of IT at RWT, shortlisted for Digital Leader of the Year.

Nick Bruce, Group Director of Digital Technology, said: “I’m absolutely delighted with our nominations at the HSJ Digital Awards. This is a tremendous achievement for our organisations and a powerful recognition of how digital innovation is driving real transformation.”

Professor Singh said: “This nomination reflects the outstanding efforts of many dedicated colleagues.

“Our partnership with Wolverhampton GPs has enabled RWT to operate at the forefront of digital healthcare, gaining national recognition through published work.

“These innovations demonstrate clear benefits for patient care while reducing hospital admissions and saving bed days, New ways of working, driven by rapidly emerging, data-driven analytics, will support acute and community NHS Trusts like RWT and Walsall Healthcare to continue delivering high-quality care despite mounting pressures.”

Dr Yat Wah Li, Chief Clinical Information Officer at RWT, added: “These nominations celebrate the dedication and commitment of our colleagues. We are continually improving care and services through digital solutions for the patients and communities we serve, while delivering on the ambitions of the NHS 10-Year Plan.”

The winners will be announced at the HSJ Digital Awards ceremony on 19 June 2026, which celebrates the most impactful projects and brightest minds in digital health.
