First of all, thank you for taking the time to enquire about the Society – it is
genuinely appreciated.

Visitors and new members are always welcome at APS meetings and activities, and
you are very welcome to come along and see who we are and what we do. This flyer
is intended, however, to answer a few questions that you might have about APS.
APS was formed just over 60 years ago in 1958. Like all societies, the membership
has varied over time, but typically we have around 35 members and weekly
meetings are attended by around 25-30 people.

APS has changed enormously over that the last 60 years – not least because of the
introduction and improvement in digital cameras, which makes good photography
accessible to all. APS members have a wide variety of cameras – not just ‘top end’.
APS aims to promote and develop an interest in photography through an interesting
and varied programme that includes weekly talks, presentations, and competitions,
We also occasionally organise workshops and practical outings. The weekly talks
and presentations are led by a mix of members and external speakers from the
‘photographic world’. Any workshops are led by members with a level of expertise
in the subject, though external leaders are occasionally used.

The Society has an active Facebook page - Facebook: Aldridge PhotoSociety and
also a website – www.aldridgephotographicsociety.com. The information contained
includes news about forthcoming events – both within the Society, and more
generally in the photographic world – results of competitions and recent images
taken by members. The programme is generally available on the Society’s website,
though it is always subject to change.

Club members range from beginners to very experienced photographers, and
friendly help and advice is always available. Everyone is encouraged to take an
active part in the Society’s events and competitions, and APS likes to think of
itself as being a very friendly and informal photographic group.
