The Legendary Sonnets For Shakespeare Reading Event Is Upon Us
8th September 2020
... Comments

Shakespeare lovers and soon to be, the 16th of September at 19:00 is the date and time to ink in your diaries. The epic Sonnets for Shakespeare (SFS) have been invited to take part in the prestige 22nd Annual Shakespeare Graduate Festival. SFS was founded by the dedicated, Lucy Heuschen and Ian Henery. They support two organisations: The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, keeping this extraordinary man’s work alive, with an anthology of poetry and artwork from around the globe.

The SFS reading event will be one of inspiration, with readings from the work submitted to SFS, of which myself, Ellis Unchained will be taking part, along with many others, it was an honour to have been invited. There will also be tributes and prose readings to vibrate your ossicles and expand your view on the world of art.

William Shakespeare’s work has been a part of education for many years in Britain and around the world. This man’s work is inspirational and informative, he denotes the errors of a toxic way of life and shines positivity and love over it. What this talented man has produced is truly relevant today, this is why these organisations and events are key to the survival of his work, ensuring he is not forgotten or faded like many other greats.

So good folks, arm yourselves with a quill and paper, view this splendorous event, be inspired, get creative and join SFS at the BritGrad event 2020.

You can also submit your own work to: hello@sonnetsforshakespeare.org

A Sonnet inspired by the man himself to get you in the mood:

Sonnet Uno: Poppies from the Valleys

Poppy heads full of life, seeds made of dreams,

Diversity of hue vortex one’s mind.

Grow in my heart, your roots run through my streams,

Water's flow never ends as you are kind.

A quilt of pure magnificence you knit,

Face of many angels, warmth you reside.

My core candles before you, were unlit.

Flower of flowers you always provide.

You will always grow in my garden soul,

Perpetual life you provide the world.

Shattered petals scattered hearts; you make whole.

If you are walked upon, more seeds, be hurled.

Whilst the earth's crust exists, life comes and goes.

Whilst red runs through you, I’ll attend the shows.
