it is often a false economy to go for the cheapest option or do a job yourself. The law is no exception to this . In a recent case the Court held that a person who represented himself was subject to the same rules as those who were represented by solicitors.

The Claimant ignored warnings from the Judge and divulged the contents of without prejudice  offer that had been made to him , forcing the trial to be adjourned to a different judge .

The Court held that , a solicitor in similar circumstances would have been ordered to pay personally the wasted costs . The Claimant had to make an interim payment of £11,000.

As with all trades and professions , it is better to get expert advice .
