Tal Singh is delighted to announce his appointment as a Community Ambassador for Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, representing the Walsall community. In this newly created role, Tal will work closely with the Trust’s Mental Health Transformation Commissioning teams to help reduce health inequalities and shape anti-racist mental health services.       Joining the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) initiative, Tal will bring his lived experience and personal wellbeing journey to the role, helping ensure that the voices of those often underrepresented are heard, amplified, and included in service design. PCREF Community Ambassadors are trusted community representatives who host listening events, facilitate feedback, co-design workshops, and act as a bridge between the community and Black Country Healthcare.
“To come through my own wellbeing journey, and to use that experience to help others is a real honour,” said Tal Singh. “And it is an even greater honour to help improve our beloved NHS, the greatest institution on planet Earth. We are Winning Wellbeing!”
Tal also expressed how privileged he feels to be working alongside a team of dedicated advocates:
“I was pleasantly surprised to meet my fellow Ambassadors. A dream team of community advocates and healthcare champions: the wonderful Gurbax Kaur, the dynamic Sylwia Anna Juranek, and the amazing Dr Matilda Chongwa. Let’s GO team!”
The PCREF strategy, including the Ambassador programme, is central to Black Country Healthcare’s efforts to embed anti-racism and health equity into its mental health services. Ambassadors will lead local engagement, raise awareness through their networks, and provide vital feedback to leadership to drive meaningful and lasting change.       Black Country Healthcare is transforming its community mental health services to deliver more person-centred care across its four localities: Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, and Wolverhampton. Tal’s role will directly support that mission by ensuring that marginalised voices are central to how services evolve.
