New weekly drop-in sessions for Walsall families are being launched to provide support on a range of topics including bullying, healthy lifestyles and neurodiversity.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s School Nursing Team will be running the weekly drop-in sessions over the next two months, starting next Wednesday 23 July.
With schools closed during the six-week break, many parents can feel isolated, without access to the usual support services.
Alison Payne, School Nursing Clinical Team Leader, said: “As a service, we want to offer parents a chance to still have support during the six-week holidays, when the schools are closed.
“We know this can be a difficult time for parents, but we want to assure them that we are here for them.”
The sessions will take place every Wednesday up to 27 August, between 10am and 12pm, on the first floor of Harden Health Centre, Harden Road, Walsall, WS3 1ET.
These new sessions provide an opportunity for parents and carers to speak directly with qualified School Nurses who specialise in children’s health and development.
The sessions are open to families whose children attend a Walsall school or are home-educated and live at a Walsall address. No appointment is necessary, families can simply drop in.
Support and advice will be available on a wide range of topics including:
Amanda Street, Clinical Team leader, added: “We look forward to seeing and supporting families. These sessions are a great way to stay connected and continue to offer help when it’s needed most.”
The initiative is part of the Walsall Family Hubs programme which aims to support families to live happier, healthier lives all year round.
