HEADLINER: Scarlett Ward-Bennett is a writer, publisher and workshop facilitator from Staffordshire. Her debut collection is ‘Ache’ [Verve press, 2019] and her own publishing company ‘Fawn Press’ was founded in 2021. She is a writing assistant for Writing West Midlands and a member of their Room 204 programme. Her recent work has appeared in Nine Arches’ Under the Radar magazine and Broken Sleep’s ‘Eco Poetry’ anthology. She came 3rd in 2019’s Wolverhampton Lit Fest competition judged by Roy McFarlane and was runner up in Verve’s ‘Community’ competition judged by Joelle Taylor. She is currently working on her second collection which will comprise both poetry and short stories.

We are thrilled to welcome Scarlett as our headline guest local writer. Plus open mic from local creatives. If that’s you, please bring enough of your best performance pieces to help us fill the evening with splendour. Or, if not, simply come and enjoy an evening of fine words and merriment with other great local writers at the microphone.

Entry is free, but donations gladly accepted (suggested £3). Raffle tickets are 50p for great prizes. Tea and coffee are free, but there’s a bar for stronger stuff. Poetry books may be available to purchase from performers. You are welcome to bring yours to advertise and offer for sale, too.

Please email spoke@albarz.uk ahead of the date to let us know if you intend to come and especially if you want a spoken word slot. It helps us to know.

The Lamp theatre space has seating at tables, cabaret style, for us.
Please follow any relevant health and safety guidelines.
There is a microphone and PA system.
*Free* self-serve teas/coffees!
Other drinks available at the bar.
Raffle with jolly prizes for lucky 50p tickets.
Books may be available to purchase from performers. Please support them if possible.
