St Thomas More Catholic School, Willenhall E-Act Academy, Shireland CBSO and Heart of Birmingham Vocational College will occupy the stalls for the morning, offering a range of handmade products including Christmas wreaths and wooden decorations, resin crafts such as keyrings, pens and guitar picks and much more festive merchandise.
The initiative is part of the Black Country Careers Hub, developed in partnership with Walsall Council and with the support of the West Midlands Combined Authority.
Pop-up shops have been running across the West Midlands for several years, giving young people invaluable experience in planning, making, buying and selling. The Black Country Careers Hub has supported a range of schools and colleges to attend markets like Walsall.
It is hoped that this will celebrate the work of young people and encourage more schools and colleges across the West Midlands to take part in future pop-up markets, with Walsall Market being an ongoing space to book a pop-up stall.
“ Supporting initiatives like this is central to our ambitions for Walsall, by young people the opportunity to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial skills at Walsall Market. These pop-up stalls demonstrate how education, enterprise and local spaces can work together to create thriving and vibrant communities. We look forward to seeing this grow and become a regular feature that benefits both our young people and the local economy. “
Councillor Adrian Andrew
Deputy Leader at Walsall Council
