1st October is National Poetrty Day and across the UK schools, libraries and community venues are celebrating the power of words.

In Walsall, at the Let`s Chat Community Hub in Walsall Bus Station Walsall`s very own Whitney Houston, local poet and songstress Kiani (pictured)  will be celebrating words put to music on National Poetry Day.

Kiani`s has previously worked with the Let`s Chat Community Hub on Walsall Windrush Generational Projects.  

The theme of this year`s National Poetry Day is Wonder and Kiani is a wonderful poet, singer and creative artist.  She has been entertaining  the crowds with her wonderful voice in  Walsall for years.   

On Friday 2nd October she is performing her debut at The Milestone Pub in New Invention as a tribute night to Whitney.  Kiani is performing 3 sets throughout the evening including one set dedicated to the music of the one and only Whitney Houston.

Kiani will also be singing the songs of Beyonce, Lauren Hill, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, Rhianna and Etta James.  

"Singing has always and will always be my way of masking behaviours and feelings" said Kiani/    "The tools and skills we have are for a reason.  I sing songs and I mean to make every day count.  I`m not singing one song I don`t believe in.  If you`re free please come along and release some endorphones, have a singalong and dance with us!"

Kiani is no stranger to the muasical fabric of Walsall.  Her musical CV reads like a cultural map of the town of Walsall.  Her previous credits include the Victorian Bandstand in the Arboretum for Lakeside Live, Walsall Festival of Words, Walsall Windrush Generation Community Intergenerational Projects, the Kiani Showcase at Big Dan`s Open Mic Night and Walsall`s Got Talent - The Final.

Kiani is also due to perform at the Hart Fest between 16 - 18th October in Newmarket which celebrates music, poetry and wellbeing.
