M6 Junction 10 scheme due to start in 2018

In an attempt to tackle delays and ease congestion problems, proposals to revamp the roundabout at M6 junction 10 are out for public consultation.

Two design options have been produced and members of the public are being encouraged to offer their feedback on the proposals, alongside other designs that have been considered.

A consultation for the public to comment on the proposals starts December 4th and will last until January 24th.

One of the busiest sections of motorway in Europe, the junction carries an average of 8,000 vehicles each hour during peak periods however the proposals are designed to carry in excess of 10,000 vehicles per hour.

Highways England and the Black Country LEP will be sharing the estimated cost of around £65m. Funding was secured through the Department of Transport's Local Growth Deal for the Black Country in July 2014, and work will begin on site in 2018 which will take around two years to complete.
