Nightmare Against MK Dons

Walsall endured a nightmare home game against MK Dons in awful conditions to make it a bad day all round for their fans. The visitors showed their intentions from the off and had that determination about them which had been lacking in their previous games as they arrived on the back of just one win in eight games whereas Walsall were unbeaten in seven. The Saddlers faced a stiff wind in the first half and were caught out several times as MKD looked to shoot on sight whenever they could. Izale McCloud was the Dons player who did most of the damage with two goals and several near misses as shots rained in on Richard O'Donnell.

He hit the side netting and fired just over with two of his better chances but made no mistake when he beat the offside trap and cooly chipped the ball over the keeper. Two minutes before half time Andy Butler fouled the striker in the box and was shown the red card. Reeves converted the spot kick and from then on it was always going to be difficult for Walsall. Dean Smith introduced new loan signing Michael Ngoo into the attack in the second half in attempt to get back into the game however McCloud bagged another goal on 70 minutes and Walsall's sorry day was complete on 88 mins when Ngoo missed a penalty.
