The latest phase of works was completed over the weekend of 15 and 16 August, with the council's contractor installing five additional 6.5-metre flagpoles on the island. The works build on the three permanent flagpoles installed ahead of the 20th anniversary of the Brownhills Miner in May.
Nine streetlight banners are also planned as part of the wider scheme, creating a coordinated display celebrating Brownhills' heritage and strong sense of community pride.
The flag display features the Union Flag, St George's Cross and the Black Country Flag.
“ The Brownhills Miner is an important symbol of the town's heritage. To reflect this, we’ve worked closely with the local community to develop a managed display on the Miner Island that reflects the pride people have in Brownhills in a positive and lasting way.

The installation of these additional flagpoles marks another important milestone for the project and builds on the work already completed ahead of the Miner's 20th anniversary earlier this year.
We're proud to be delivering this initiative in partnership with the community, creating a lasting way to celebrate Brownhills' heritage while ensuring the island remains safe, well maintained and welcoming for everyone.
We look forward to formally raising the flags later this month and marking another milestone for this much-loved local landmark. “
A formal flag-raising ceremony is planned for later this month, with further details to be confirmed.
