A new community walking group aimed at supporting men`s mental health has been launched in Walsall.
Men Walking & Talking, a growing nationwide initiative that encourages men to connect through conversation and gentle exercise, has been launched in Walsall Arboretum.
The group meets every Monday evening at 7.30pm outside the Arboretum Cafe, offering a welcoming and informal space for men of all ages to talk, listen and support one another while walking together in nature.
The Walsall walks are led by local volunteer Tim Summersby, who is passionate about building stronger, more connected communities.
"Three words came to me whebn creating this group: hope, purpose aned community" Tim said. "Without a lot of hope and purpose - and without a community around them to support - men can become isolated. That`s something we want to help change."
The walks are free to attend with no need to register or commit. Men are encouraged to come along as they are - whether they feel like chatting or just want to walk quietly in the company of others.
"We want to create a safe space for people to open up and share a little about themselves and their journey" said Tim. "There`s no pressure to talk but there`s great value in simply showing up and walking together".
The new Walsall group is part of a wider movement by Men Walking & Talking that highlights the importance of mental wellbeing and the power of community support, particularly for men who might otherwise struggle to reach out.
"Together let`s find a bit of hope, purpose and community" said Tim.
