Work has begun on a new roundabout at a busy junction in Walsall. The traffic island is being installed at the junction of Wallows Lane and Bescot Road as part of a multi-million pound highways improvement scheme.

In addition to the roundabout, new kerbs, footpaths and junction resurfacing will also be carried out ate routes in Darlaston and Pleck.

Local residents have been informed of potential interruptions to vehicular driveway access. The scheme have stated that traffic information signs will be erected before each closure and diversion routes will also be set up prior.

Deputy Leader of Walsall Council, Adrian Andrew said

"This essential work is being carried out as part of our drive to improve the links for businesses who will eventually move to the Darlaston site of the Black Country Enterprise Zone.

We understand that these works may cause some inconvenience but we have planned them so that they cause as little disruption as possible to residents, businesses and road users."

Work on the roundabout officially started on 5th October and will run for 3 weeks until the end of the month. Work will take place between the hours of 7pm to 6am Monday to Friday.
