Ricky and Terence from Walsall`s Sparta Krav Maga travelled all the way to Surrey last Sunday (24th March) where they were assessed by an international team who had gathered for the UK national gradings.

"Ricky and Terence were assessed by none other than Tamir Gilad" explained Paul O`Connor (pictured with Terence, Ricky and Tamir), who is the lead instructor of Sparta Krav maga in Walsall.

"Tamir is the Head of the Training Committee.  He is graded at Expert 6 on the Global Instructor Team and it was a great honour for my students to meet him at the national gradings".

Tamir Gilad was in the UK to run the national gradings at the Hart Leisure Centre in Fleet plus delivering Krav Maga Instructor updates for UK instructors.

"Tamir was overseeing the testing of students who had come from all over the UK" said Paul O`Connor, who runs self defence classes in Brownhills, Walsall and Aldridge.

"Terence has been studying self defence for 18 months and Ricky has been studying Krav Maga for 7 years" said Paul O`Connor.  Before Ricky joined my club he had been studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Urban Combatives.  I am very proud of both Ricky and Terence."

Krav Maga is a self defence system that is for all.  It is used worldwide by armies, police and civilians.  It is a self defence system that integrates simple and instinctive moves accessible to all.

Paul O`Connor said:

"It was a very hard grading, 3.5 hours and they excelled.  Standards were very high but not everyone passed that day.  Grading is earned and not given.  They earned it.  I am very proud of them, 100%".
