The Mayor of Walsall, Cllr Louise Harrison (pictured) has been busy spreading thje joy of Christmas across Walsall.

The Mayor has a real passion for the community in Walsall and has worked on many projects in Bloxwich, one of the most memorable being working with residents to launch an official Bloxwich Flag in 2017.  The "Bloxwich Flag" is registered with the flag institute and it has a great following on social media.  There are regular outings throughout Bloxwich raising aware ness of the flag and collecting donations for different charities.

Cllr Harridson was encouraged to stand for election for the Bloxwich West Ward in 2004 by former Mayor Cllr Melvin Pitt and won.  She then was subsequently relected in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.

"We started off our day in Bloxwich" said supporter Ian Henery (pictured with the Mayor) "attending the Christmas Remembrance Ssrvice at Walsh Funerals & Memorials  with the service commencing at 10am  on Saturday.  It was part of Grief Awareness Week, which ran u ntil 8th December and people could leave messages on the Tree of Remembrance and enjoy a beautiful dove release".

Ian Henery also had a book launch with his latest collection - "My Place, My Words" celebrating the Black Country in words and pictures at Gtreat Bridge Library with Tipton Town Libraries Local History Group.

The Mayor of Walsall then met up with Ian Henery later that day to support his book launch with Willenhall Rotary at the Christmas market to raise money for charity.

"It was an amazing day" said Ian "with free fair rides, a traditional Santa in the Old Bell Pub, a variety of spectacular stalls and a panto with Showtimes Productions of Aladdin.  Trudie Bethel was singing on stage and Willenhall Wrestlers Live!  We also had a guest appearence from the Grinch in Willenhall.  Grateful to Willenhall Lock stock for providing the stage."

It was a fantastic event for the community and to raise money for local causes through Willenhll Rotary.

"I was chuffed to bits to be on the Lock Stock Stage and doing my second book launch of the day in front of the Mayor of Walsall" said Ian Henery.  "Thank you to all the  volunteers helping to raise money and giving up your time come rain or shine."
