Terrified of heights, Adam Haste and Paige David from Walsall based insurance broker, Think Insurance, will be thrown into the deep end as they skydive in aid of The Midlands Air Ambulance on the 1st of July 2014.
Adam nervously told us “I have a real phobia of heights, but the cause is important enough for me to face up to that head on.” He has been fortunate enough to have never needed The Midlands Air Ambulance's help, but a few of his biking peers have needed air ambulance assistance, and since then he has been passionate about raising money for their good cause.
“That golden hour after an accident is so crucial, so to have such a fast response saves a number of lives that otherwise would be lost.” Adam says, gratefully.
The biking community have often come to the aid of Midlands Air Ambulance charity, as the charity so often come to the aid of them. Nearly 50% of the Air Ambulance’s missions are road traffic collisions, and bikers are some of the most vulnerable motorists on the road.
The Midlands Air Ambulance relies on charity stunts like this as it is solely self-funded, they have no government backing or lottery funding. When it costs £6 million pounds a year to keep the charity operational, you can understand why Adam and Paige are braving their fears and trying to earn the charity at the very least £1,000.
Adam and Paige work for local company, Think Insurance, an insurance brokerage that regularly encourages charity events and raise a good deal doing them. Most recently Think raised over £500 pounds for Sports Relief, the whole team ran and swam together to raise the cash.
