Join us on July 27th at the Milestone for a fun day. There will be a free bouncy castle, free childrens face painting, sand pits, BBQ, arts and wellbeing stalls. The event is organised by Tal Singh at Soulbrite Seva CIC and Leesha Mansell of Community Matters CIC.
Sara will be joining an exciting group of poets and musicians to share the joy of poetry and rather exciting that there will be creative workshops after for anyone who has ever wanted to explore their own ability to write. The workshops are for all regardless of where you are in your writing journey.
Sara Meredith was born and raised in Walsall and is extremely proud of her heritage. Her poetry takes you on a journey and her words often tear at your heart. Sara says that poetry has often saved her, when she has faced child loss, divorce and generally the cruelty of life. Sara believes the ability to write allows her to express her heart.
Sara is often found sharing her words at local open mic events but she was also proud to have shared her work at the Birmingham Chinese festival and at a local event which was raising awareness for gender based violence. Sara says “it’s powerful to use my words to raise awareness through experience and desire. “
On Sunday 27th July Sara will also be launching her first poetry book “I am the Storm” a journey of grief, pain but also hope. Sara will be happy to sign books at the event.
The live entertainment of the forthcoming New Invention Summer Fest is provided courtesy of Saida & Friends - the very best of local spoken word, music, creative writing workshops and no less than 2 book launches by Sara Meredith and Katie Victoria. Headlining Saida & Friends - Saida Chowdhury. Katie Victoria is launching her debut poetry collection 'I Write Because....'. Daniel Martin, Mark Perryman and Rosie Mitchell are three exciting poets and they will be performing at this forthcoming event.
The event is also kicking off with the music of local legends The Other Half, namely Andrew Keatley & Sylvia Keatley. They recently performed at the Bridgnorth Open Mic Night at Kershaw`s Cafe and played a great set".
