A new survey aimed at gathering young patients’ feedback about the activities they’d like to get involved in while they’re in hospital has been launched across two Black Country NHS Trusts.
Children and young people at Walsall Manor Hospital and Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital are being asked to take part in a Children’s Ward Entertainment & Playroom Survey that is being run by the Patient Experience Team across Walsall Healthcare and The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trusts.
The survey aims to understand:
Garry Perry, Associate Director Patient Voice (Experience) across both Trusts, said: “Some children and young people can find themselves having to stay in hospital for a while and it’s important that we take care of all their needs – not just their medical condition.
“Our teams do a great job of providing activities, but we want feedback to help us enhance the ward experience, tailor activities to different age groups, and ensure our playrooms remains safe, welcoming, and stimulating spaces.”
The survey covers:
Garry added: Responses will be reviewed by the Play Team and Paediatrics leadership to identify improvements, longer-term enhancements to facilities and programming, opportunities for staff training or resource allocation.
“Our staff will be encouraging children and families to complete the survey, offering support if children need any help with reading or writing – so parents and carers please ask about the survey as printed copies will be available on the Children’s wards and in the playrooms.”
