A young man in front of me was buying juice at our local petrol station.

I was buying the same drink which was £1.09p a bottle.

I had to intervene, when the cashier asked him  for £13.80 for ten bottles.

He was about to hand over the cash when I stopped them both and  simply said:

1 times 10 is 10: 1 times 9 is 90.

It may have been 'sharp practice' on behalf of the

garage but never the less it did highlight the usefulness of knowing your tables!

Whether you agree with the Y4 Tables assessment tests or not, knowledge of your tables

is really useful and  certainly saves people from being scammed.
