Darlaston Builders Merchants are a Midland based builders merchants with over 30 years establishment in the building trade. They're currently operating four depots around the west midlands region with a forward thinking culture to expand within the industry.

The company currently operate around 18-20 truck vehicles in which all have the ability to load various types of materials with crane capabilities. This includes all building products including civils such as concrete rings, ducting, piping, bricks, blocks and jumbo aggregates.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for crane driving,
  • Control remote and overhead cranes,
  • The ability to use a crane and also operates a crane licence (Manual and Remote controlled experience preferred).- Work 7.30am till 5.00pm Monday to Friday and some Saturdays,
  • Comply with all driving regulations as set out by VOSA,
  • Perform vehicle defect checks and liaise with transport manager and yard staff on a daily basis,
  • Work well on your own and within a team,
  • You will be loading and unloading so heavy lifting may be involved,
  • Ensure that a good standard of housekeeping is maintained at all times,
  • All tasks to be completed in the safest manner, adhering to all health and safety rules and regulations,

Qualifications and Skills

  • Perform vehicle defect checks and liaise with transport manager and yard staff on a daily basis.
  • Experience of working within a building environment and with building material,
  • Lifting and slinging certificates,
  • Experience of crane driving,
  • Excellent team work and communication skills,
  • Will have some previous experience in operating crane however training will be provided with a brick grab,
  • Valid Crane and FLT licences would be an advantage,
  • Must be able to multi-skill, be hardworking and have attention to detail,
  • Must be able to maintain good timekeeping and attendance record,
  • Must be prepared to work outdoors,
  • Have practical skills,
  • Use their own initiative in organising movement of panels and their destination,
  • Will have a positive ‘can do’ attitude,
  • Be able to carry out manual work,

 

Benefits

Work 7.30am till 5.00pm Monday to Friday and some Saturdays.

Job Type: Full-time
