After resting the event last year, it’s back with a bang on Friday 8 May, with boxers ready to float like a butterfly, sting like a bee for Round 8. And this year’s promises to even bigger and better than ever – with live entertainment also on the cards.
Former British lightweight boxing champion Martin Gethin, Patron of Well Wishers, and local hero, is once again supporting the event which will be raising money for an OMi Mobii projection system for the trust’s Dementia Unit. This will be used with patients to encourage movement and improve concentration, emotional wellbeing and social interaction.
Martin said: “Over the years this fantastic night out has raised thousands of pounds for Well Wishers to spend on items above and beyond what the NHS provides for Walsall hospital and community patients.
“Round 7 saw us raise money for Walsall Healthcare’s Complex Dementia & Delirium Team to buy items to occupy and engage patients such as iPads, busy boards and fidget widgets. And we’ve also helped the Children’s Ward with thousands of pounds worth of new toys and equipment as well as Goscote Hospice over the years.
“I’m proud to be a Well Wishers Patron, supporting the team to raise money for fantastic causes that directly benefit patients. Come and join us in May for another great night out and help us make a difference.”
Tickets, with full venue details and timings, are on sale now for just £15 each, via https://wegottickets.com/f/17446 or from the Fundraising Hub in the main atrium of Walsall Manor Hospital, and supporters can also enjoy live performances from Shannon Harvey and White Star Line, along with some action-packed boxing bouts.
Georgie Westley, Walsall Healthcare Fundraising Manager, said: “We always look forward to our boxing event because it brings in such healthy funds for really worthy causes.
“Round 8 will bring plenty of action, along with entertainment, so make sure you snap up your tickets now!”
Food will be available at an additional cost.
