How It All Began – Caring Feet Domiciliary Foot Care

Hello! I’m Sarah, the proud owner of Caring Feet and a qualified Foot Health Practitioner (or FHP, for short!).

At the tender age of 40-something, I made the decision to retrain and start my own self-employed business after dedicating 28 years to the NHS and over 30 years in the care sector. It was a big leap, but one I’ve never regretted.

My journey began at Walsall Manor Hospital, where I started out as an Auxiliary Nurse. I went on to become a Level 2 Healthcare assistant across various wards and specialities before progressing within a District Nursing Team – now known as the Community Nursing Team – here in Walsall.

For over a decade, I worked within community nursing, which I truly loved. I managed my own caseload, followed up on referrals to GPs, and arranged prescriptions for dressings and creams. Much of my work focused on wound care, especially for patients with chronic lower limb conditions.

A recurring concern I heard from patients was foot care – particularly toenail cutting and general foot maintenance. Sadly, many didn’t meet the strict criteria for NHS Podiatry services, yet they still needed some support to keep their feet healthy, safe, and comfortable.

It became clear to me that there was a real gap in the system – and I wanted to fill it.

So, I enrolled in a Level 4 Diploma in Foot Health Practice at the Finest Feet Training Academy in Shifnal. Under the expert one-to-one guidance of foot health specialist Denise Dickerson, I completed both the theoretical and practical training and officially qualified on 14th February 2025 – a Valentine’s Day I’ll never forget!

To celebrate, I treated myself to a Finest Feet foot care gift pack and gave myself a well-deserved pampering session – the first of many!

Since launching Caring Feet, I’ve grown in confidence and found the flexibility I need to balance work and family life. I love meeting new patients and catching up with my regulars, and I’m proud to offer a service built on compassion, professionalism, and trust.

My care philosophy is simple: I treat every patient how I would wish myself or a loved one to be treated. Patient safety is always my top priority, and I follow all healthcare protocols and procedures to the highest standard. Prevention and health education are also at the heart of what I do.

I’m also passionate about learning and continue to grow my knowledge and skills through further training and development.

Coming soon to Caring Feet:

  • Medi-Pedi (Medical Pedicure)

  • Verrutop Verruca Treatment

Thank you so much for reading my story – and remember:

Caring Feet cares for your feet – make sure you do too!

Warm regards,
Sarah P
