Walsall put up a great fight at the Galpharm Stadium to earn a creditable 1-1 draw against in form Huddersfield Town. David Grof returned in goal for The Saddlers with first choice keeper Jimmy Walker out suspended and he was a real hero, pulling off some fine saves. As early as the second minute he was pressed into action beating away a goal-bound effort from Jordan Rhodes. In the 11th minute Alex Nicholls got a toe onto a Lee Beevers cross but couldn't turn it in.

Jon Macken somehow missed a sitter from a few yards out but seconds later Grof had to be alert at the other end to produce a fine fingertip save to knock over. From the resultant corner the young keeper pulled off a save with his legs.

For the rest of the half the home side created chance after chance but the ball simply wouldn't go in for them. Walsall were just relieved to see half time. Ten minutes after the restart Jamie Patterson came on for Anton Peterlin. The youngster looked lively and went so close on one occasion.

Then in the 67th minute the inevitable happened- Huddersfield took the lead through Lee Novak- a tap in from close range. Saddlers heads never dropped though and in the 78th minute drew level with a smartly taken shot by Patterson, his first goal for the club. Walsall came close to snatching it towards the end but in truth Town should have won by some distance but what a bonus point this was.
