Free Attractions for Kids in Walsall This Summer

With the summer holidays well under way we understand keeping your children occupied isn't going to be an easy task and you might expect to be taking a hit to your bank balance too.

But did you know there is actually loads for you and your kids to do in Walsall that wouldn't cost you a penny?

Here we have put together a parents guide to the best attractions the local area has to offer including parks, festivals and fun days.

Walsall Arboretum

With a splash pad and play area sitting alongside historic buildings such as the clock tower, boathouse and bandstand the Arboretum is perfect for a picnic dayout and a great attraction for parents and kids alike!

Pelsall Common

An amazing countryside site home to a vast array of wildlife including rabbits, foxes, voles, bats, a number of amphibians and reptiles. Being one of only two sites with a population of the uniquely protected Great Crested Newt, Pelsall Common is a beautiful and eye opening day out for all the family.

Willenhall Memorial Park

Created on foremely derelict mining land to the west of Willenhall's town centre, the Memorial Park is now home to an exciting childrens play area, bowling green, fishing pool and  community pavillion.

Walsall Town Festival

Having started this week the festival is coming to a close on Saturday but there is still a chance for you to catch some of its amazing events. With music, dance and drama performances being held in the town centre at Old Square, Shopping centres such as Park Place and Saddlers and Gallery Square. So why not take the kids and you can guarantee they won't be bored!

Bloxwich Carnival

The carnival is home to many attractions and entertaining events, taking place in the town centre and Bloxwich Park on the 1st of August it is sure to be a memorable day out for any family. The day will include a fun fair, procession, plenty of amazing stalls and the crowning of the carnival queen. This is surely not to be missed!

Barr Beacon

As one of the highest points not only in Walsall but in the whole of the Midlands area, Barr Beacon gives you stunning panoramic views including landmarks like the Wrekin, Birmingham, Lichfield Cathedral, Cannock Chase and Lickey Hills. Your back will also be ache free as there will be no need to pick the kids up, they'll be able to see it all.

Fibbersley Local Nature Reserve

One of the best wetland sites in the local area, Fibbersley is home to many pools of varying sizes for you and your children to explore. Each are home to lots of different aquatic life with a variety of insects, birds and amphibians to be discovered.

There are many family fun days taking place in Walsall this summer and here are a few for you to choose from:

Pelsall Common - 5th August

Willenhall Memorial Park - 12th August

Pleck Park - 17th August (Montford Road, WS2 9AF)

Palfrey Park - 24th August (Dale Street, WS1 4AN

Bloxwich Park - 26th August (High Street, WS3 2JL) 

Each fun day begins at 10:30am with inflatables, charity stalls, music, children's rides, face painting and refreshments available for use until 4pm.

Hopefully this has given you an insight into all the amazing free events and attractions available in Walsall over the coming months and given your youngsters no excuse for complaining of boredom this summer!
