“Sculpture is the art of the intelligence” and Michelangelo believed that “every block
of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it”. Pablo Picasso

The New Art Gallery Walsall kicks off the Easter holiday celebrations with an array of free, fun activities inspired by sculpture in all its forms. There are lots of exciting things to do and see over the holiday break.

Mums, dads and children of all ages, carve your way through the Soapy Sculptures to the creative Saturday Playdates workshop on the 17 th of April, between 11am and 4pm. Set your inner artist free and be inspired by the surrounding world to create your own miniature sculpture in un unexpected material, soap! A visual and olfactory experience awaits for you. You can be as imaginative as you like and let your personality and your hands speak for you.

For all the gournets out there why not drop into the Salty Sculptures workshop, Tuesday 16, between 11am and 12pm to “bake” rustic sculptures from salt doughs. Kids will love it! Your creations will be on display around the gallery for your friends and family to view for the remainder of the school holidays.
