First League Point Of The Season #Walsall FC

Walsall picked up their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at Oldham but with a little more application would have come back with all three. There were five decent chances in the first half alone with Will Grigg having three and Jamie Patterson two as Saddlers continued their policy of playing good football on the deck-very pleasing on the eye. The hosts looked there for the taking however they took a bit of a shock lead when Youssouf M'Changama tested David Grof with a long range shot which he shaped up to save but bounced off him into the net from about 22 yards out.

Walsall didn't look quite so threatening in the early stages of the second half and Oldham almost made it two wth one good move. Manager made a couple of substitutions one of which saw 20 year-old George Bowerman replace the hard-working Will Grigg. He seized on a defensive mistake and drew the keeper before firing into the net to give Walsall that point they deserved. Saddlers are now off the bottom of the table and head for Notts County on Saturday.
