Family Fun in Walsall This Summer

The weather is warming up, the days are longer and there's so much fun to be had outside. But it can be tough to keep your child safe in the sun, especially now that the six weeks holiday are here.

Here are some top ways to keep your children protected against the sun from those big family days out and trips to the park.

  • Encourage your child to play in the shade, especially between 11am and 3pm as this is when the sun is at its hottest.
  • Cover exposed parts of your child's skin with sunscreen, even if the sun isn't shining and it's a overcase. Use a sunscreen that has sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or above. Don't forget to reapply often throughout the day as you don't want your child to burn.
  • Dress your child in loose, baggy clothing - cotton is recommended as it is light weight. This will ensure that your child won't get too hot in what they are wearing.
  • Get your child a hat, as it will shade their face, scalp, ears and neck. It's a great way to give your child protection from the sun.

With lots of exciting things to do in Walsall this summer, why not have a look at all of our family events here.
