Easter 2017 bank holiday - when is Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday?
5th April 2017

Unlike a lot of other Christian feast days such as Christmas Day, Easter does not have a fixed date and is based on the lunar calendar. So, Easter is scheduled to fall on the Sunday that follows the full moon that happens on or after March 21, also known as the Spring Equinox.

So, in Western Christianity, Easter will always fall between March 22nd and April 25th. This year Easter falls at the later end of the scale.

When is Easter Bank Holiday 2017?

The key dates you need to know for Easter weekend 2017 are:

  • Good Friday - Friday, April 14
  • Easter Sunday - Sunday, April 16
  • Easter Monday - Monday, April 17
Hopefully with Easter falling later this year, we can expect to see a bit more sunshine this bank holiday!
