Types of down lights
Down lights are available in mains voltage (230 volts) or low voltage (12 volts) which are power vie a transformer. The down lights may also be described as " fire rated" this means they have a built in fire protector that completely seals the down light in the event of a fire in the room below to prevent the spread of fire and smoke.
When installing down lighters also consider the lamp type which is best for the installation.
