The fair runs from 11am to 3pm at Walsall’s central archives, located inside of the Lichfield Street Hub. Visitors can browse a rare book sale featuring Walsall Red Books and meet local heritage and arts organisations showcasing Black Country history and culture.
The Forgotten Generations will present an exhibition as part of its Lest We Forget project. Activities for children and young people will include sessions with Stan’s Café celebrating the legacy of Sister Dora, alongside activities with Aldridge Transport Museum.
Family history support will be available from Midland Ancestors and Walsall Archives’ volunteer genealogist.
The programme also includes a free talk, Through Sweat, Tears and Triumphs, by authors Jennifer Blake and Pat Houslin. The talk explores the experiences of the Afro-Caribbean community in Walsall since the 1950s.
“ This is a great free event and a chance to find out more about Walsall’s history and the people who have shaped it.
Councillor Matthew Eason, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Health and Wellbeing at Walsall Council
