The DadPad app, fully funded by Walsall Council Public Health, provides practical advice and guidance to help fathers navigate the challenges of parenthood and give their baby the best possible start in life.

Originally launched in Walsall in 2023, DadPad has already made a significant impact, with over 2,000 new fathers in Walsall accessing the app since its introduction.

The DadPad app, which has moved to a new platform and been developed in partnership with the NHS and Inspire Cornwall CIC, offers essential information on topics such as feeding, sleeping, coping with crying, bonding with your baby and supporting your partner’s mental health.

The new DadPad app for Walsall will have all the same benefits as the original DadPad, with links to and information on relevant local and national support groups and services, all written with dads’ unique needs and perspective in mind.

In addition, the new app platform enables local dads to seek and share information on their own experiences of parenthood, contains more graphics than the original app, and will also be available in a range of different languages, all to help as many men in Walsall as possible be the best dad that they can be.

The relaunch aims to build on this success by raising awareness and encouraging even more dads to download the app. The initiative is part of Walsall’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of families and ensuring that fathers feel confident and included in their parenting journey.

“ It’s brilliant to see how many new fathers in Walsall have already engaged with DadPad. Becoming a parent can be overwhelming and this app provides practical, trusted advice right at your fingertips. We want to spread the word even further so that every dad in Walsall knows this free resource is available to help them with everyday parenting queries and to support their family’s wellbeing. “

“ We’re so thankful to have the opportunity to continue our mission in Walsall, in partnership with the fantastic local teams. We’re especially excited to now have the new app platform in place here, making us all even better placed to listen to the views and needs of new fathers, which can be fed back to and considered by local new-family-focused organisations and systems. This information, together with the Co-ParentPad, will all help those services to truly consider and serve the specific needs of the whole family when it comes to pregnancy, birth and early parenthood in Walsall. “

  • The Community Group feature on the new DadPad app is fully moderated by DadPad in line with agreed community guidelines, which all users accept before joining. Discussion groups and question threads are created in collaboration with local commissioners, enabling members to share feedback on their needs and contribute to shaping future services and interventions.
  • Co-ParentPad is a quick reference baby guide to support non-birthing (non-gestational) parents who identify as LGBTQI+. Developed by the team at Inspire Cornwall CIC, with support and guidance from LGBTQI+ parents and perinatal health professionals, it’s aimed at providing an LGBTQI+ affirming alternative resource to DadPad.
