Councillor Irene Henery (pictured)  has been touring Rushall-Shelfield ward to find a suitable location to hold regular surgeries for residents to highlight their concerns and to empower local residents to have a voice if they encounter problems with Walsall Council services.

Following from the 7th of May 2026 Walsall Council Elections, newly elected Councillor Irene Henery visited Manor Farm Community Association on Friday 15th May 2026 and was very impressed by the facilities and services on offer for local residents. The charity which has been running since 1977, offers a very wide range of services. There are services targeted at the over 50s, new Dads’ group, Children’s Activities, Day Nursery, Adult Education, Sports and Leisure Facilities, Employment Support, Help to Get online, Social Prescribing and Conference facilities.

Councillor Henery said, “I am very impressed with Manor Farm Community Association and all the work they do for local residents of Rushall-Shelfield. The Association has even collected The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service!

We will start our surgeries from Saturday the 6th of June 2026 10am to 12 noon and we aim to hold one every Saturday, same time, same venue, going forward.

We want to hold surgeries to provide a direct, face-to-face way for local residents to raise concerns, seek advice, and get help with council-related problems. We recognise that these weekly, in-person, drop-in sessions ensure elected representatives remain accessible, accountable, and engaged with the community which elected them. We want to help residents solve local issues like housing repairs, missed bin collections or anti-social behaviour. Surgeries are a great way to gather community feedback, helping us shape local policy and represent their interests. We want to build trust with our ward residents.”

Councillor Irene Henery is one of three Reform UK councillors elected to represent the people of Rushall-Shelfield ward in the 7th of May 2026 elections. The other 2 Reform UK councillors will also be in attendance at the surgeries to assist residents.
