The council first implemented the PSPO covering part of Walsall Town Centre on 28 September 2017. It was then extended in 2020 and then amended in 2023 following previous public consultations.

An online survey which opened on Monday 22 June and closes on Sunday 26 July 2026, seeks residents’ feedback on the current Order as well as the area it covers. The survey is available to complete on the council's website, with paper copies available to pick up in all council libraries.

The order applies to all public spaces within the restricted area and for 24 hours a day. Public spaces include the highway, public footpaths and public areas of land including communal car parks or grassed areas.
