Another Home League Defeat

Walsall entertained Swindon Town but soon found themselves a goal down... 57 seconds in fact. Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio had done his homework and instructed his players to get at Walsall from the off, something they did with devastating fashion as Simon Ferry shot past David Grof. Walsall were stunned and took a while to recover. Walsall included on loan Sam Mantom in their line up for his second spell from West Bromwich Albion and he went close for Saddlers as did Jamie Patterson.

After the restart Adam Chambers produced a shot which went over the bar as Saddlers tried, briefly, to get back into the game. From a breakaway Swindon secured the three points when Matt Richie drove home from 20 yards to leave the players having no chance to recover from a slick Swindon side . One positve point from this game was the full debut of Mal Benning. The youngster looks a fine prospect. Walsall's home league form is very disappointing.
