The joint initiative between the Council’s Net Zero and Healthy Spaces team and TfWM will offer a week’s free bus travel, funded by TfWM, to help the community improve health, reduce transport costs or lower environmental impact.

The initiative will run as part of Beat the Street Bloxwich starting on 25 February until 25 March 2026, a four-week challenge where residents can earn points for travelling actively, such as walking, cycling or scooting between checkpoints in the Bloxwich area.

Those who are successful will receive a code to redeem through the Swift technology and the nBus multi operator bus ticketing scheme.

The 20 codes will be available to the first five eligible residents that register for Beat the Street Bloxwich at one of the four distribution points when the game goes live on Wednesday 25 February.

The four distribution points for the Beat the Street Bloxwich game are:

  • The Local Hub
  • Bloxwich Community Library
  • Bloxwich Active Living Centre
  • Bloxwich Community Partnership - Stan Ball Centre

Five codes will be available at each distribution point.

“ This collaboration marks a significant step in our commitment to both public health and sustainability in the borough. Through buses and promoting active travel, we’re helping to meet our net-zero ambitions such as tackling congestion and improving air quality, while encouraging walking, cycling and scooting into everyday routines.

If you are keen to explore Bloxwich, Walsall and the wider West Midlands for free for a week, visit one of your local distribution points and sign up to Beat the Street Bloxwich this February. “

Councillor Suky Samra, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene
Walsall Council

“ I want to make it as easy and as affordable as possible for people to get to where they need to be, whether that’s work, school or to see friends.

This partnership in Bloxwich is a great way for people to try leaving the car at home and enjoy a greener, healthier way of travelling. By providing a week of free travel, we’re helping people to cut their transport costs – putting some spending money back in their pockets while they explore what our bus network has to offer. “

Richard Parker
Mayor of the West Midlands
