Acorns Children’s Hospice and 100 miles

Howdie good folk, Sunday the 6th of June, a 100-mile journey will commence on bicycles from Walsall rugby club through the beautiful countryside up to Market Drayton. This journey is for a great cause, Acorns Children’s Hospice. This is one of the very few charities with an end product, aid, and support of which you have physical proof, a rarity for charities these days. Not only do they support the children, they provide support for their families too.

The organiser of this event is Steve Price, founder of Walsall Bike project. Steve has created many bike projects to help the community, which is needed more than ever in the current climate. Bike prices rose with recent demand and bike repair prices naturally followed. Every Tuesday, possibly moving to Thursdays and becoming a sports coaching session. Steve has been opening his workshop located at Walsall Rugby Club to repair bikes for a low cost or free depending on personal circumstances! Steve has also collaborated with other bike projects, leading him to take on bikes that others could not commit the time required to fix, enabling him to bring an appropriate bike back to life for a young autistic adult.

Adopt a bike was another project giving those less fortunate a chance to go for a ride, even learn how to ride. Unfortunately funding for these many projects has become an issue, for this great community push. This man and his projects need our support.

Unchained Wisdom has decided to embark on this wonderous 100-mile journey with Steve… is it going to be tough? Yes, it is, but Steve is taking this task one step further and riding a 1950’s Hercules 3 gear bike. Our support is with Steve and Acorns. Steve has given a lot of himself and his time to the community, and yet he’s taking on new missions to try and help the community even more. Let’s start supporting real gems.

Please donate to this cause, anything is better than nothing.

Poem:

Humble through times, even if we stumble,
Help the people whose lives may crumble.
A child suffering to many is unfathomable,
Hope in projects to make life a little stable.
One man, one bike, brings many to the table,
Please give a hand, make a stand, if you’re able.
