In partnership with leading developer Keepmoat Homes Ltd, the Council is set to deliver high-quality housing and green space that will redefine the future of Willenhall, creating a brand-new development Locksmiths Quarter.
“ Our partnership with Keepmoat marks another major milestone in delivering the homes, spaces, and opportunities that Willenhall deserves. At Locksmiths Quarter, together we’re building a future that honours Willenhall’s proud heritage while embracing innovation and sustainability, and an even prouder future “
Councillor Adrian Andrew, Deputy Leader
Walsall Council
With the compulsory purchase of a swathe of sites in Moat Street/Villiers Street completing earlier this year, the Council and Keepmoat Homes Ltd are set to begin demolition and remediation soon.
“ We’re thrilled to launch our partnership with Walsall Council by working collaboratively to deliver circa 100 new energy-efficient homes.
Ben Leather, Regional Managing Director
The Locksmiths Quarter development off Moat Street in Willenhall will offer high-quality housing for local people. As experts in transforming brownfield land at Keepmoat, our team is excited to be working with the local authority to regenerate this site. We are eager to begin the remediation works, creating a vibrant new community and revitalising the area “
Keepmoat West Midlands
The first phase of development, centred on Moat Street and Villiers Street, will see the construction of circa 100 new homes, designed to be energy-efficient, attractive, and accessible across a full affordability range.
The regeneration of Willenhall is supported by funding from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund and the West Midlands Combined Authority, enabling land acquisition through a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) and facilitating the development of land that includes derelict and underused sites. Outline planning permission for Phase 1 was granted in July 2024, following community consultation.
Keepmoat Homes Ltd was appointed as the Council’s development partner in November 2023, following a competitive procurement process. Their proven track record in delivering community-focused housing developments will be instrumental in realising the vision for Willenhall.
Derelict factories along Moat Street will be demolished soon as part of the plans
